Magnolia spoiled San Miguel Beer import Shabazz Muhammad’s double-double debut as the Hot Shots drubbed the Beermen in a 104-87 bounce-back win on Sunday in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Mark Barroca and Paul Lee provided the spark in Magnolia’s huge 21-9 scoring blast midway in the second quarter to put Hot Shots ahead for good on their way to a league-leading 7-1 win-loss record.

“We talked about bounce back, the last game and the proper mindset, the playoff mentality. They showed all of these tonight and with the leadership of Mike (Harris), Paul and Rafi (Reavis), our offense and defense ran well,” Magnolia head coach Chito Victolero said.

Lee and Harris finished with 26 points each to lead the Hotshots while Barroca and Aris Dionisio added 12 markers apiece.

Muhhamad made an impressive first day output of 27 points and 17 rebounds but was not enough to save the Beermen, who shot poorly from beyond the arc with an atrocious 3-for-23 clip.

CJ Perez led the Beermen’s local players with 18 points as they absorbed their fourth loss of the season.
