Gun ban arrests near 1,000

A total of 973 persons have been arrested and more than 1,000 firearms and other weapons have been confiscated amid the prevailing election gun ban, the National Police said Friday.
Those arrested include 937 civilians, 13 security guards, eight policemen, seven soldiers, and eight others, data released by the PNP showed.
Metro Manila tallied most of the arrests with 318, followed by Central Visayas with 118, Central Luzon with 116, Calabarzon with 96, and Western Visayas with 51.
Some 607 small firearms, 28 “light weapons,” 56 firearm parts, 37 gun replicas, and 21 still unidentified types of firearms were confiscated.
Also confiscated were 279 bladed weapons, 57 explosives, and a total of 4,708 rounds of ammunition, the PNP said.
