The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Monday said it is looking at the possibility of more players who may have participated in the hacking of the more than 700 Banco de Oro accounts recently.
According to the NBI, it is now tracking other suspects who may have dipped their hands into the accounts of mostly individual account holders who lost as much as P50,000 last December.
Lawyer Victor Lorenzo, the NBI cybercrime unit head, disclosed to have identified these other players despite initially having just their aliases.
At least five individuals were arrested last week, including two Nigerian nationals.
The BDO hacking was known as the “Nagoyo” incident but it created a dent in the Philippine banking system, which had been used by some international crime syndicates as a conduit to illegal money transactions.
