Two of the three convicts who escaped from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City early Monday were killed in pursuit operations and the hunt is still on for the third, authorities said.
Convict Pacifico Adlawan was killed when he engaged pursuing government forces in a firefight while running towards a creek along the Manila-Cavite Expressway (MCX), Bureau of Corrections spokesperson Gabriel Chaclag said.
The National Police later reported that another escapee, Arwin Bio, was killed in a second shootout near the MCX around 3 p.m.
Drakilou Yosores, the third escapee, was also involved in that firefight but escaped and is still subject of a follow-up operation by the city police, the PNP said.
Adlawan, Bio, and Yosores escaped from the NBP’s maximum security compound before dawn Monday by sawing off the iron bars of their cell window.
They shot at least three jail guards and another inmate while escaping.
