Sara’s support for BBM solid

Vice-presidential aspirant Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has confirmed a clamor for her to pair up with another presidential aspirant instead of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

But the President’s daughter quickly rejected the proposition pairing her with Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, asserting her solid support for Marcos.

“When I decided to run for vice president, I also decided to run in tandem with BBM (Bongbong Marcos). Through this, the UniTeam BBM-Sara was formed,” Duterte-Carpio said in a video message.

Duterte-Carpio said she “respects” the decision by some of her supporters to support a candidate other than Marcos in this year’s elections.

“I truly appreciate the love of so many for me and I do not wish to impose upon you my choice for president,” she said.

“While I continue to respect your decision to support another presidential candidate, it is with a heavy heart that I cannot be one with you on this,” she added.

She also reiterated the loyalty she pledged to her party, Lakas-CMD, and its allied party, Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP).

Marcos is PFP’s standard-bearer while Duterte-Carpio is Lakas-CMD’s vice-presidential bet.

“I am confident in Marcos’ experience in government, his readiness, and capability to lead our country,” Duterte-Carpio said.

Earlier this week, former Maguindanao representative Zajid “Dong” Mangudadatu called on leaders, politicians, businessmen, and other sectors to join him in supporting an Isko-Sara (ISSA) tandem.

Mangudadatu is the lead convenor of ISSA Movement and disclosed that his group has different chapters across the country.

For the former lawmaker, the Isko-Sara tandem can continue the key programs of President Rodrigo Duterte like the “Build, Build, Build” program, anti-narcotics drive, among others.

In the latest Pulse Asia survey, Marcos and Duterte-Carpio emerged as the tandem to beat in the 2022 elections.
