The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) disclosed on Thursday that the 17 Metro Manila mayors comprising the Metro Manila Council (MMC) continue to discuss possible ways to properly address the situation amid the rising number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections and the Omicron scare.

MMDA chairperson Benhur Abalos said that the MMC will also discuss other strategies while following the guidelines set by the Department of Health regarding the health care utilization rate (HCUR) in Metro Manila’s hospitals.

Earlier, Abalos noted that the HCUR in the metropolis between 8 and 9 January only noted a slight increase which is still within the metrics for Alert Level 3.

Data from the Health department showed that ICU beds were at 51 percent last 8 January and rose to 52 percent the next day, while isolation beds utilization went from 51 percent to 50 percent.
