86 nabbed for violating gun ban

Eighty-six persons have been arrested for violating the election gun ban which has been in effect for almost a week, police reported Friday.
Among those latest to be arrested were a security guard from Bocaue, Bulacan, and a private security escort from Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija, according to data released by the National Police.
The others were also civilians. They are residents of Sorsogon, Davao de Oro, La Union, Cebu, Abra, Negros Occidental, Batangas, Quezon, and Taguig City.
Different police units have carried out 18,978 checkpoints to enforce the ban on firearms and other weapons since January 9, the PNP said.
