Why Zanjoe Marudo doesn’t condone cheating

DAVID Ilustre (Zanjoe Marudo) and his young mistress Lexy Lucero (Sue Ramirez).

Zanjoe Marudo, who plays the manipulative David Ilustre in The Broken Marriage Vow, isn’t in favor of forgiving a cheater.

“Hindi pa rin ako pabor (I’m not in favor) whether may experiences sila sa past na dahilan kung bakit ganito sila ngayon (Whether they have past experiences that became the reason what they are now),” he said.

Though portraying such a complex character is both a challenge and a blessing for Marudo amid the pandemic, he still isn’t happy about the idea of deceiving people.

“Pero hindi pwedeng patawarin yung mga ganun lalo na sa kultura nating mga Pilipino. Hindi siya acceptable lalo na ang mga nananakit (But forgiving people like that isn’t acceptable with our culture especially those who hurt others),” he said.

The Broken Marriage Vow is a remake of the BBC Studios hit show Doctor Foster which was first adapted into the Korean drama The World of the Married.

ZANJOE Marudo and Jodi Sta. Maria are husband and wife in ‘The Broken Marriage Vow.’

A web of lies has slowly destroyed the picture-perfect family of the Ilustres. David, an architect, is a loving husband to Jill (Jodi Sta. Maria) and father to their only son Gio (Zaijian Jaranilla). He engages in an extramarital affair with the young Lexy Lucero (Sue Ramirez).

David casually fools his wife about his secret relationship, reassuring her that there’s no other woman. But Jill knows better.

The Broken Marriage Vow, shot entirely in Baguio, also stars Jane Oineza, Angeli Bayani, Bianca Manalo, Ketchup Eusebio, Rachel Alejandro, Art Acuña, Empress Schuck, Joem Bascon, Brent Manalo, Malou Crisologo, Franco Laurel, Sandino Martin, Lao Rodriguez, Jet Gaitan, Jie Anne Armero, Migs Almendras, Avery Clyde and JB Agustin with the special participation of Susan Africa and Ronnie Lazaro.
Directed by Concepcion Macatuno and Andoy Ranay, The Broken Marriage Vow will premiere first on the iWantTFC app and on on 22 January, two days ahead of its TV broadcast.

Watch it on 24 January at 8:40 p.m. on the Kapamilya Channel, TV5, A2Z, Kapamilya Online Live on ABS-CBN Entertainment’s YouTube channel and Facebook page, iWantTFC and TFC.
