The camp of presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Tuesday also called for an investigation on the alleged hacking of the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) system.

Vic Rodriguez, Marcos’ counsel and spokesperson, said they are calling on the Comelec steering committee and the Joint Congressional Oversight Committee (JCOC) “to convene, initiate the probe and work to ensure the integrity of the systems and of the forthcoming elections.”

He said Marcos’ team is “keenly observing” updates on the incident where hackers allegedly managed to enter Comelec’s system and downloaded 60 gigabytes’ worth of data, which included usernames and PINS of vote-counting machines (VCM), among others.

“We do not intend to immediately jump into any conclusion that could lead to undermining or discrediting the preparations and the conduct of the 9 May (2022) general elections,” he said.
