Blacklist International will be walking wounded as Johnmar “OhMyV33nus” Villaluna and Danerie James “Wise” del Rosario are set to take a break from competitive gaming and skip the upcoming Mobile Legends Professional League Philippines Season 9.

According to Blacklist, OhMyV33nus and Wise sought a break to be with their respective families and to better prepare for Season 10 while preparing for their world title defense.

“The Blacklist International management and its star players, OhMyV33nus and Wise Gaming, mutually agreed that they will skip the upcoming MPL Philippines Season 9,” the organization said in a shocking announcement over the weekend.

“Both players and the management agreed that this is the perfect time to take their much-needed break that will better equip them for another run in Season 10 and a chance to defend our world championship title.”

They, however, will still remain with Tier One Entertainment and are expected to return as soon as they have fully recharged from months of non-stop campaign.

“The duo will remain under the management of Tier One Entertainment and they are excited to use this break to pursue personal goals and spend more time with their families.”

Arguably the best tandem in the country today, both OhMyV33nus and Wise were instrumental in powering Blacklist to back-to-back MPL titles.

They also led the squad to a runner-up finish in the MPL Invitational 2021 and the MSC 2021 before winning the M3 Mobile Legends World Championship last December in Singapore, where they walked away with a whopping $300,000 cash prize.

OhMyV33nus, a prized mid lane support, said he decided to take a breather following a very hectic schedule that even stretched up to the holiday season.

“Too many things happened last year and looking back, I cannot believe that I was able to carry all of it from back-to-back MPL championships, MPL Invitationals, MSC, and then finally winning the M3 World Championship,” OhMyV33nus said.

“So many things happened that really tested my patience as a person. And for all the bashes I took, that is when I felt that a lot of people love me.”

“I am very thankful for all the blessings that came into my life, especially that we won not one — but three crowns.”

He said with everything he had achieved, he truly deserves a good rest.

“We have achieved great things last year that I think I deserve to take a rest from all these to live a peaceful life,” the 27-year-old gamer added.

“I will be resting this Season 9 so I can give time to my other goals in life and have a beauty rest.”

Although speculations are pregnant that the break could eventually lead to retirement, OhMyV33nus came up with an assurance that he will be back after Season 9.

“Keep in mind that I am not yet done with Mobile Legends. I just need a break,” he said.

“Thank you so much for the support and I will see you all on my live streams. This is not a goodbye, but see you later.”
