National Police chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos on Monday assured that the rising number of COVID-19 cases within the force would not hamper lawmen from performing their duties.
According to Carlos, the organization has noted 43,603 total coronavirus infections, with 1,884 active cases nationwide as of 10 January.
Many of the active COVID cases among lawmen developed only mild symptoms which will only need home or facility isolation, he said.
“We have our deployment strategy that in case a member of the police unit will be isolated, those who are not in contact with him/her will take over. Of course, swab testing is a regular thing for us,” said Carlos, who had also tested positive for COVID-19.
Carlos said work also continues for those who are asymptomatic and can still manage to discharge their function even at home or inside a facility.
He reminded personnel to always maintain a healthy body and a sound mind to effectively function as frontliners in the fight against COVID-19.
