A week before Christmas, just as Covid-19 was virtually under control in the Philippines, a ferocious typhoon named “Odette” slammed and ravaged many parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.
As this issue was being prepared, sorrowful scenes of devastation played out on social media and television — including portraits of despair among people known for their hard work and patience.
As aid comes and the victims pick up the pieces of their shattered lives, the words of performing artists reflect what are truly important as Christendom celebrates the birth of the Savior.
“Just to be with my family, that’s more than enough. For everyone to be safe, happy and full of love.”
“I want family healing and for us to be more joyful and to accept the things we have experienced during this pandemic. I wish that all families will be happier, more positive and turn their heartaches into strength.”

“To be with my family. Sana, wala nang pandemic. I wish everyone happiness during the holidays.”
“For the country to develop a mature political outlook in spite of our different affiliations. We don’t have to be enemies if we support different candidates or parties. For this pandemic to be resolved. For myself, more great music, and the resumption of regular live gigs so that we can share the gift of music with others.”
“Sana matapos na ang pandemic para mag-back to normal na rin ang lahat. Sana suportahan, mahalin at gustuhin ng mga Kapamilya ang
first-ever movie namin, ‘Love at First Stream.’”
Peace on earth, goodwill to men! Fake news has divided our nation (and other countries as well), and has resulted in an agitated society, noisily supporting divergent views and burying the more basic human traits of decency: kindness, caring and support for each other. My fervent Christmas wish is for people to reconcile with what our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has commanded us, that is, to ‘love one another. As I have loved you, so you must also love one another.’ Maligayang Pasko!”

“Wala, para sa sarili ko, okay na ako, kumpleto pamilya ko, mahal ako ng mga tao sa paligid ko.”
“I hope the worst of the pandemic is behind us, and that the coming year will be the best ever. I pray for discernment so we may choose leaders who will give their best to the country, act with honor, and uphold truth and justice.”

“My wish for Christmas is that every person will feel loved, whether they are celebrating alone or with loved ones and friends. Also to not miss the real good news about Christmas that God sent Jesus His Son to save the world. Amid challenges, it’s easy to forget the true meaning of Christmas. For myself, my wish is that I can give love to those who need it. Merry Christmas!

“I wish our countrymen will make the right choice in 2022; that we recognize our worthiness to have better lives, and care about human rights and inclusivity. I wish we all back to love. I wish to live in love, passion and kindness which is everyone’s birthright.

“My Christmas wish is for Filipinos to be wiser and vote for the rightful choice for our country’s sake. My personal Christmas wish is to have more patience with people and to not give up on them even though some fail and disappoint us, especially in the critical period of the 2022 elections.”
“I wish that Filipinos be more discerning and exert more effort in the search for truth. In this age of social media, many lies continue to flourish. As for myself, I have been blessed enough. Last but not the least, let’s be kind and respectful to one another.”
