The Covid-19 pandemic caused the worst disruption of education in modern history. Millions of students fell behind in learning, especially in the Philippines.

ErudiFi, a mission-driven technology company focused on making education affordable in Southeast Asia, developed Bukas, a financing platform that offers affordable and complementary solutions to Filipino families unable to access bank loans, credit cards or scholarships.

The Bukas app lets students reapply for additional tuition coverage every semester. It has a fixed monthly interest rate at 1.5 percent and payment installments up to 12 months. Students who want to pay in full the loan in less than 12 months can do so without any pre-termination fees.

Payments are via GCash, Bayad Center, Unionbank or through thousands of bank and non-bank payment centers powered by Dragon Pay.

Driven with its mission to make education attainable for all, Bukas has partnered with several learning institutions including Mapua University, Far Eastern University, Adamson University, Our Lady of Fatima University, PHINMA Education Network, University of Nueva Caceres, Centro Escolar University, Eskwelabs, De La Salle University, University of Asia and the Pacific, SoFA Design Institute, Enderun Colleges, Avion School and Uplift Code Camp.

“We are strongly committed to providing students access to quality education and pave a path towards a brighter future. By providing education-focused financial products, we hope to reduce the number of out-of-school youth, and build a more secure future for the next generation,” JR Emlano, country manager of Bukas, said.

The Bukas app is available on Google Play Store for Android users. It will soon be on the App Store for iOS users. Apply for a tuition installment at
