“Yung puso mo, kumusta?” — Bea Alonzo asks John Lloyd Cruz in a scene from their reunion project, One True Pair the Movie, which premiered online last 1 December.
The 30-minute film is produced by Jollibee Studios.
Cruz, playing a character named Ian, teases how “showbiz” the question is, before saying, “Eto may abs na. Malakas na.”
The last time the tandem appeared in a movie was in 2015’s A Second Chance.
Cruz went on hiatus in 2017.
Their reunion project was made possible by GMA Network, where both have signed up as talents.
“Surreal,” Cruz said when asked what it’s like to work with Alonzo again after a spell. “It’s always a joy and a gift… because I never get that experience from anybody else.”
Alonzo quipped: “It’s both nerve-wracking and comforting every time I work with this guy. He brings out the best in me. He keeps me on my toes.”
Award-winning director JP Habac — who has previously done other Jollibee Studios projects including Checklist in 2018 — helmed One True Pair the Movie.
He described the movie as “a collaboration on the set.”
Alonzo said, “We were on the same page the whole time.”
Habac revealed he took inspiration from such romantic comedies as Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, and When Harry Met Sally.
He pointed out: “In One True Pair the Movie, we wanted to talk about the powerful truth that loving someone means loving them always.”
At press time, One True Pair the Movie has drawn 500,000 views and is at no. 12 on the YouTube trending list.
