Two fishermen were injured when their boat engine exploded in Mati City, Davao Oriental, authorities reported.
John Mark Mamintong, 25, and Caesar Alterado, 40, were brought to Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center because of burn injuries, according to a report from the city government.
The incident occurred at the shore of Brgy. Macambol. It was reported to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) at 11:39 a.m. Thursday.
Mamintong and Alterado, both from General Santos City, were then loading supplies into their boat along the shore.
Members of the CDRRMO immediately went to the area upon learning the incident.
Mamintong reportedly suffered second degree burns in different parts of the body and face, and was found having difficulty in breathing. He was given a thermal blanket and administered with oxygen.
Alterado suffered first degree burns on the body, with blisters noted on his face, right arm, and right side of the chest.
