One person was arrested and about P102 million worth of suspected shabu was seized when authorities conducted a buy-bust operation in Caloocan City early Monday.

Arrested was Randy Rafael Rodriguez alias “RR,” 42, a resident of Pasay City, according to a report from the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (DEG).

Members of the DEG’s Special Operations Unit-National Capital Region, along with other police units, the Bureau of Customs, and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, carried out the operation along Baesa Road, Barangay 161, around 12:20 a.m.

Operatives collared Rodriguez after he sold one kilogram of suspected shabu concealed in a pack of Chinese tea. He was found in possession of 14 more such packs containing one kilo each of the contraband.

Also confiscated from the suspect were the two P1,000 marked bills and 10 bundles of fake money used in the sting, and a cellphone.

According to the DEG, Rodriguez has been working for a Chinese known only by the alias “Lim,” and they have been “openly” distributing illegal drugs in Metro Manila and nearby areas.

They can deliver drugs either personally, or “dead drop” these to given locations, it said.
