Sen. Bong Go on 30 November formally announced his withdrawal from the presidential race in the 2022 national elections.

He made the announcement during a wreath-laying ceremony at the Pinaglabanan Monument, Pinaglabanan Shrine in San Juan City in celebration of the 158th birth anniversary of Andres Bonifacio.

“In the past few days, I realized that my heart and my mind are contradicting my actions. Talagang nagre-resist ang aking katawan, puso at isipan,” Go told reporters.

He also admitted last week that he was “hesitant” to pursue his presidential bid after withdrawing his candidacy for vice president.

He said he is still “in shock” on being the standard-bearer of the ruling PDP Laban party since he was set in seeking the country’s second highest post.

Having said this, I leave my fate to God and to the Filipino people as I vow to do my best everyday to serve selflessly and tirelessly.”
