Thirty years have passed since the first Honda Civic arrived on our shores. And after recorded local sales of more than 132,000 units, the iconic vehicle now enters the dawn of a new age with its 11-generation model, centering on its core values of design, dynamics and human machine interface (HMI).
With its recent virtual launch, spectators were awed by its new clean-cut look that goes along with a range of high-tech features and a new VTEC turbo engine.
At the onset, this Civic palpably features a more robust and stylish profile compared to its predecessor. It combines elegance and sportiness with its newly-designed full LED headlamps and fog lights for its top-tier. Daytime running lights complement it, together with a more prominent front fascia. Sleek lines across its sides and a sloping roofline, meanwhile, give the compact sedan added character.
At its rear, new pair of LED taillights stylishly illuminate the RS models at night, together with its black-painted side mirrors, door handles, sharkfin antenna, trunk spoiler and its chrome-finished dual-exhaust pipes. Its athletic stance is capped by either a set of 16-inch rims on the S variants, 17-inch alloys on the mid-range V or 18-inch matte black wheels on the RS models.
Inside, a minimalist cabin design warmly welcomes occupants. They are further treated to a slew of quality materials, from its soft touchpoints to the honeycomb design of its vents. For added
entertainment, variants sport up to nine inches of touchscreen display audio with the RS variant further boosting one’s pleasure with a 12-speaker Bose sound system.
Powering this stunner is its new 1.5-liter four-cylinder DOHC VTEC turbo engine which comes standard across all variants. It churns out 176hp and 240N-m of torque, outperforming the predecessor’s 1.5 VTEC turbo mill by 4hp and 20N-m and has 36hp and 66N-m of torque more compared to previous 1.8 naturally-aspirated engine.
Safety-wise, Honda Sensing now come standard in all variants of the Civic, which features the following: Collision mitigation braking system, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane keeping assist system, road departure mitigation system with lane departure warning, auto high-beam and lead car departure notification system.
Other than a host of safety features, it also prides itself with a five-star safety rating under the new 2021 ASEAN NCAP assessment.
The all-new Honda Civic is available in colors: Morning Mist Blue Metallic (new color; V Turbo CVT Honda Sensing and S Turbo CVT Honda Sensing); Meteoroid Grey Metallic (new color; RS Turbo CVT Honda Sensing, V Turbo CVT Honda Sensing and S Turbo CVT Honda Sensing); Ignite Red Metallic (exclusively for RS Turbo CVT Honda Sensing); Platinum White Pearl (RS Turbo CVT Honda Sensing and V Turbo CVT Honda Sensing only) and Lunar Silver Metallic (exclusively for S Turbo CVT Honda Sensing).
