Philippine National Police (PNP) Police General Dionardo Carlos on Thursday ordered lawmen in Central Luzon to conduct a thorough investigation into an incident where a policeman shot dead a 19-year-old male in Bacolor, Pampanga.
Carlos instructed Central Luzon regional police director Brig. Gen. Matthew Baccay to initiate a “thorough administrative and criminal investigation” against the suspect identified as Cpl. Alvin Pastorin.
The 33-year-old Pastorin, an intelligence officer of the Bacolor Police, is currently detained at the local police station for shooting 19-year-old Abelardo Vasquez last 20 November, 2021.
The PNP chief also extended condolences to Vasquez’ family and assured them that justice will be served following due process of the law.
Initial investigation from the Bacolor Police revealed that Pastorin went to a store where he confronted Vasquez and his companions for not wearing masks. Pastorin was said to have reprimanded the teenagers and asked them to return home, but this resulted in an altercation between him and Vasquez’ group.
A witness claimed that Vasquez called for backup from his relatives who were having a drinking session at home, and that the group eventually stoned Pastorin while he was returning to his vehicle.
