“It’s the loneliest feeling in the world,” Jessie J posted on Instagram on Wednesday, 24 November (Thursday, Philippine time), saying she suffered a miscarriage the day before and deciding to go on with a gig in Los Angeles.

“I feel like I have no control of my emotions. I may regret posting this. I may not. I actually don’t know. What I do know is that I want to sing tonight. Not because I’m avoiding the grief or the process, but because I know singing tonight will help me,” the 33-year-old, London-born singer-songwriter wrote in an emotional post.

She explained her circumstances: “I decided to have a baby on my own. Because it’s all I’ve ever wanted and life is short. To get pregnant was a miracle in itself and an experience I will never forget and I know I will have again.

“I’m still in shock, the sadness is overwhelming.

But I know I am strong, and I know I will be ok.

“I know millions of women all over the world have felt this pain and way worse. I feel connected to those of you I know and those of you I don’t.”

Eonline.com reported Jessie paused during her performance at The Hotel Café in LA to talk about the incident, recalling the baby losing its heartbeat: “I’ve never felt more alone than I have in the past week. But I don’t feel alone right now…”

It is believed she got pregnant via donor insemination.

The showbiz website recalled Jessie in 2018 recounting during a Royal Albert Hall concert her battle with infertility. Her boyfriend at the time was actor-dancer Channing Tatum.

Only last October, she and boyfriend dancer-choreographer Max Pham Nguyen split up after seven months of dating.

Jessie’s miscarriage comes amid a medical condition in the past 10 months. In December 2020, she lost her hearing due to Meniere’s disease, an inner-ear disorder.

‘TikTok-a-Who?’
Meanwhile, Adele admitted she didn’t know about TikTok until she was told about it by her management.

In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe to promote her latest album 30, the British singer-songwriter and Jessie J’s classmate at the BRIT School in London said a “conversation about TikTok” came up a lot while she was recording her new album.

Her team explained it was important that 14-year-olds knew who she was via the video-centric social media app.

“Tik-a-Tok-a-Who?” she asked, before reasoning out the 14-year-olds “all got moms, and they’ve definitely been growing up listening to my music.”

If everyone is making music for TikTok, she added, “who’s making music for my generation?”

Adele, 33, said her music speaks to 30- and 40-year-olds who’ve gone through experiences similar to hers.

Recently she succeeded in persuading Spotify to revise a practice concerning the track listing of artists’ songs. She asked the audio streaming platform to hide the shuffle button from all her albums to focus instead on the tracks of 30.

In a viral tweet following the release of 30, Adele said: “We don’t create albums with so much care and thought into our track listing for no reason… Our art tells a story and our stories should be listened to as we intended. Thank you, Spotify, for listening.”

To which Spotify’s official Twitter account responded, “Anything for you.”
