ZAMBOANGA CITY — Thirteen former members of the Abu Sayyaf Group operating under seven different ASG leaders surrendered and turned over their high-powered firearms to senior military officials in Patikul, Sulu.
Armed Forces of the Philippines-Western Mindanao Command (AFP-WesMinCom) commander Maj. Gen. Alfredo Rosario Jr. disclosed that the former ASG gunmen surrendered to senior military officials of the 1103rd Infantry Brigade in Barangay Bon-Bon, Patikul, Sulu on Monday.
Rosario identified the former ASG members as Ladok Alih Alina, Alkaiser Faisal Ladjahali, Bennajar R. Jalmaan, Asaral Sakandal Asorani, Almujir Naning Salammudin, Juli Ansa Uppih, Randimar Isa Kiram, Makrim Jumhala Habbisi, Hakem S. Asanji, Aisari M Sadri, Tista Juhurim Hussien, Sibar Juhurim Hussien and Jabir Sahi Nuni.
They also turned over 10 M1 Garand rifle, two M16 rifles, one M79 GL with one round 40mm ammo and one 9mm pistol to Patikul, Sulu Mayor Kabir E. Hayudini and 11th Infantry Division Commander Maj. Gen William N. Gonzales, according to Rosario.
Rosario added that most of the former ASG who surrendered were alleged gunmen of ASG leader Radullan Sahiron while others were formerly alleged gunmen of the late Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan, Amah Ullah, Alhabsy Misaya, Idang Susukan, Muammar Aalaki and Hairulla Asbang.
