Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Saturday filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for vice president replacing a member of Lakas-CMD who withdrew from the race.

Duterte-Carpio’s spokesperson Liloan, Cebu Mayor Christina Garcia-Frasco confirmed to Daily Tribune that the mayor filed her COC under Lakas-CMD through a representative.

“This is to confirm that Mayor Inday Sara Duterte, through her representative, has filed her Certificate of Candidacy for Vice President under Lakas-CMD. Mayor Sara will be releasing an official statement shortly,” Garcia-Frasco said.

Duterte-Carpio’s lawyer, Ronald Munsayac said Duterte-Carpio filed her CoC at around 1:30 p.m.

The camp of Lakas-CMD president and House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez said both Ana Velasco and Lyle Uy, the party’s original presidential and vice-presidential bets, respectively, withdrew their certificate of candidacies at around 1:00 p.m. on the same day.

The party has yet to disclose who will be its substitute candidate for president after Velasco’s withdrawal.

Meanwhile, Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) adopted Duterte-Carpio as its vice presidential bet through a resolution.

Former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. is PFP’s standard-bearer.
