Daguioman mayor to face raps

The mayor lost control of the vehicle and hit the two victims before ramming the concrete barrier

BAGUIO CITY — The mayor of the Municipality of Daguioman, Abra is set to face charges for homicide and physical injury after he figured in a road mishap along the Abra-Ilocos Sur National Road on 31 October.

Police said that Daguioman Mayor Marcelo Padilla hit two individuals identified as Emerita Tubera and Mariso Sison after he lost control of the vehicle he was driving in Barangay Zone 1, Tangadan in San Quintin, Abra.

Tubera died in the hospital because of severe head injuries while Sison is still in critical condition.

Investigations showed that the mayor was driving fast and upon reaching Zone 1, he lost control of his vehicle and crossed to the other lane where he hit the two victims and the concrete barrier.

Daguioman Vice Mayor Salma Padilla was also in the vehicle when the accident happened. The Daguioman mayor immediately surrendered to Mayor Amador Diaz of San Quintin, Abra.
