Senator Christopher “Bong” Go sent additional aid to 649 disadvantaged people from Iligan City, Lala and Sultan Naga Dimaporo in Lanao del Norte on 29 October.
The senator’s team held separate aid activities throughout the province, where they provided vitamins, masks and face shields.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development, meanwhile, assisted fire victims financially; the Department of Labor and Employment, transport workers, vendors, farmers and fisher folks through its displaced-workers program.
Go also encouraged those with medical concerns to visit the Gregorio T. Lluch Memorial Hospital in Iligan City or the Kapatagan Provincial Hospital in Kapatagan, where there are Malasakit Centers.
Go primarily authored and sponsored Republic Act 11463 (the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019) to assist Filipinos in their medical expenses and improve healthcare services in the country.
Go then encouraged eligible residents to get vaccinated to safeguard themselves against the virus and to help the country attain population protection leading to herd immunity.
“Iyan po ang target natin ngayon, makamtan po natin ang population protection at herd immunity para naman po sumaya ang ating Pasko.”
As Vice Chair of the Senate Finance Committee, Go also showed his support for various projects in Iligan City to further boost their economic development, such as the provision of new medical equipment for Gregorio T. Lluch Hospital; rehabilitation of its public market and roads; and construction of a multipurpose building.
