Lawmen shot dead a 35-year-old man who reportedly went amok in Lipa City, Batangas, police reported.

Killed was Aldrich Mirandilla, a resident of Purok 5, Brgy. Pangao, according to a report from the Batangas provincial police.

The incident occurred at the same area around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Members of the city police’s Special Weapons and Tactics unit were sent to the area after Mirandilla’s family reported that he was running amok while armed with a bolo.

As lawmen arrived, Mirandilla entered a piggery and tried to hack one of them.

Mirandilla saw that he was outnumbered so he ran, prompting SWAT members to give chase.

When cornered, Mirandilla charged at some officers with his bolo, so they shot him on one leg.

Mirandilla, however, continued to move towards the lawmen and tried to lunge at Cpl. Rov-joone Zara, who shot him again.

Police brought Mirandilla to the nearest hospital, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
