At least 2,215 persons were affected by floods and a landslide caused by heavy rains in Davao City these past few days, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported Wednesday.
Of that number, 415 persons fled to evacuation centers and 482 more took shelter at the homes of relatives and friends, the NDRRMC said.
Fifteen barangays in the city were affected, with some roads in Brgy. Communal and Brgy. Buhangin Proper rendered impassable.
In Brgy. Tigatto, a landslide damaged six houses. The affected families were evacuated to the San Isidro Labrador
Meanwhile, local authorities in Sogod, Cebu, reported that around 200 persons evacuated from Brgy. Poblacion in the town, also because of floods.
The evacuees took shelter at the Deo Durano Sports Complex and St. James the Apostle Parish Church.
