A couple involved in an illegal investment scheme that victimized hundreds of Filipinos was arrested in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, Wednesday morning, police reported.
Arrested were Samson Amores Jr. alias “Beboy,” 53, and his wife Analita, 46, both residents of Brgy. Villa Kananga in the city, according to a report from the Caraga regional police.
Personnel of City Police Station 1 arrested the couple around 9:50 a.m.
Samson and Analita, listed as 5th and 6th most wanted persons of that police unit, were arrested via a warrant for violation of Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Presidential Decree 1689.
According to police, the two were connected to KAPA Community Ministry International.
It can be recalled that the group had been involved in a Ponzi scheme investment program that offered impossibly high returns to investors, using money contributed by later investors.
On July 21, 2020, KAPA founder Joel Apolinario and 25 others were arrested in the hinterlands of Lingig, Surigao del Sur.
