A battle of prosthetic phalluses.

That’s how Jerry Olea of showbiz website pep.ph sums up Manipula, a new Filipino erotic-thriller movie starring Christian Vazquez, Marco Alcaraz, Mark Manicad and Kiko Matos and Aljur Abrenica, with newcomer Ana Jalandoni who’s also the producer.

Jalandoni was in the Vivamax movie Paglaki Ko, Gusto Kong Maging Pornstar.

Olea said Pinoy movies supposedly showing male genitalia actually use prosthetics.

Examples are Paulo Avelino’s pissing scene in Fan Girl, and Kit Thompson flashing his penis in Sarap Mong Patayin.

But Olea pointed out that Marco Gomez showed his actual member in a beach scene in Silab.

And Matos, in fact, did an honest-to-goodness frontal baring in the 2018 Cinemalaya short, You, Me and Mr. Wiggles, said Olea.

At the media conference for Manipula, Matos said he’s willing to show his private parts on a “grander” scale, meaning a full-length movie with him in the title role.

Sitting next to Matos at the media meet was Abrenica. When Matos made a gesture about doing full-frontal scenes, Kylie Padilla’s estranged husband said: “Baka next time… five years from now.”

Matos took it seriously and quipped that the movie where he’d join Albrenica bare themselves could be titled Espadahan.

Meanwhile, Ana, the lead actress and producer of Manipula, which was streamed 29 January this year. AJ Raval and Rose Van Ginkel were also in the cast.

No, it’s not a cooking show. The “snackable” in the title must either be referring to the timeslot, the merienda hours, or the content is something light and funny that the viewer can “chew on.”
These videos may help soother one’s mental health amid all the depressing and stressful news.
