From boy-next-door looks to fashion inspiration, Alden Richards has evolved into a style of his own — which, he recently admitted, takes a lot of “conscious effort”.

The 29-year-old actor-TV personality had never considered himself a stylish guy. But he has a team of stylists that looks after his image as one of GMA Network’s “biggest homegrown talents.”

“This industry is very visual. It’s always about the looks… it’s the first judgment,” he said on 15 October at an online media conference for his contract renewal with the Kapuso network.

Present in person and virtually to witness the ceremony were all of GMA’s bigwigs.

‘I’M ready to take on edgier roles,’ Alden says.

For the event, Alden wore a gray mock turtleneck top under a double-breasted navy blazer, slim-fit black trousers and leather boots.

It was a far cry from his standard cotton shirts, jeans and sneakers outfits of the past.

The glam look, according to his production team, is meant to reflect the transformation of his character in the upcoming return of the hit series The World Between Us, airing on 15 November.

“This is one of the best projects I’ve done — I never thought I could do something like this. I experienced a lot to finish this project, and I’d like to believe we finished strong,” he said.

Richards, who said he’s looking forward to his movie team-up with fellow Kapuso artist Bea Alonzo, declared that as he turns 30 in January 2022, he is ready to take on “edgier roles.”

He added, “Here’s to another 10 years and I’m really looking forward po to more beautiful projects and opportunities with the Kapuso network.”

The GMA honchos were all praises for the actor, who they described as talented and accomplished, yet consistently humble and kind.
