Omega Esports scored a stunning upset against Blacklist International following a 3-1 victory over the defending MPL champion on Day 2 of MPL Season 8 Playoffs Friday evening.

Omega fielded its MSC 2021 championship squad except for Kielvj in Renzio, Raizen, Ch4knu, E2MAX, and Kelra.

Meanwhile, Blacklist went to battle with Wise, Hadji, OhMyV33NUS, ESON, and Edward, as OHEB remains suspended for showing his middle finger on cam during the group stage.

After taking a 2-1 lead heading to Game 4, Omega struggled in the early going with their Barats, Lancelot, Rafaela, Lylia, and Claude lineup as Blacklist played Aldous, Karina, Angela, Esmeralda, and Baxia.

The defending champions took the early lead by taking two turtle kills and were ahead on kills 7-2 in the first seven minutes of the round.

The turning point came at the 13th minute mark when Omega stole the lord from a scrambling Blacklist. Omega picked apart their foes from there.

Omega surprisingly went for a GG push with lord all three turrets down the middle lane. With ESON and Hadji still dead from the last clash, Omega charged towards the base to end the series.

The win catapulted Omega to the upper bracket semifinals where they will meet Onic while Blacklist is set to face NXPE on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
