Don’t count out four-division world champion Donnie Nietes just yet.

In its bid to become a major player in the industry, Probellum signed up the Filipino fighter to a promotional contract, making him the 15th puncher on the growing list of talents.

Probellum has signed up a bevy of big names the past few weeks, including Nonito Donaire, who is also a four-division titleholder.

Richard Schaefer, who runs the promotional outfit, was ecstatic over Nietes’ entry.

“We are pleased to welcome such an illustrious boxer like Donnie Nietes to the team,” Schaefer said.

“We have seen the lower weight classes finally receive the praise they deserve in recent years, and Donnie is a key part of that sacked super-flyweight division,” added Schaefer, who used to call the shots for the Oscar De La Hoya-owned Golden Boy Promotions.

Nietes, who has a 43-1-5 record with 23 knockouts, is also delighted to be fighting under Probellum.

“It is such a great pleasure to get this promotional contract,” Nietes, 39, said.

“I am so proud to be part of it, and I am looking forward to fighting again soon so that I can continue to show my boxing abilities and technique.”

Nietes held world titles at minimumweight (105 lbs), light-fly (108), fly (112) and super-fly (115).

While getting ready for his much-awaited ring return, Nietes will train at the Villamor Brothers Boxing Gym in Cebu under the supervision of Edito and Edmond Villamor.
