Kylie Padilla’s love life is nowhere near perfect. The same goes with Beth, her character in WeTV’s GL series BetCin.

BetCin is an eight-episode romantic comedy show that follows the story of online celebrity couple Beth (Kylie Padilla) and Cindy (Andrea Torres). While their relationship is deemed perfect by many, it is not what it seems behind the scenes.

The couple, dubbed as BetCin by their followers, is on the verge of breaking up. Yet, they have to fake it for the sake of competition and the large cash prize at stake.

“In all their flaws and messes, mamahalin mo sila (you will love them). They’re imperfect people but they try their best,” Padilla said of their characters at a press conference.

She also described Beth and Cindy’s love to be pure. “It’s just that under circumstances, ganun talaga ang pag-ibig minsan hindi nagwo-work out (love sometimes don’t work out),” Padilla added.

Playing the role of Beth also taught her a great deal about the power of social media.

“A couple going through a break-up under the microscope of social media. Napatanong ako sa sarili ko, ano ba ang impact ng social media sa buhay ko (I asked myself what is the impact of social media to my life). Am I doing too much? What is my truth? How can I make my life better and productive while balancing everything out?” she said.

Above all, Padilla is thankful to be part of such an amazing project.

“This show is such a blessing for me because it came at a time when I wanted to sink my teeth into a project that I really love, one where I would have just so much fun,” she said.

BetCin also stars actors Elora Españo and Chai Fonacier. It is directed by Shugo Praico with story creator Fatrick Tabada and writer John Carlo Pacala.

BetCin streams on WeTV every Friday, starting 15 October at 8 p.m.
