Team Spirit survived a grueling championship match over PSG.LGD, 3-2, to rule The International 10 and take home the record-breaking cash prize of $18,208,300 on Monday at the Arena Nationala in Bucharest, Romania.

The thrilling series went the full distance with both teams putting on an exciting show in the close-shaved deciding match.

After splitting the first four games, Spirit’s Yatoro, TORONTOTOKYO, Collapse, Mira, and Miposhka relied on their already proven Magnus backed by Bane, Terrorblade, Ember Spirit, and Winter Wyvern to take on LGD’s Tiny, Lycan, Kunkka, Skywrath Mage, and Enchantress.

It was the closest and most even round the entire series as both teams scored seven kills each by the 20th minute mark, with LGD having the slight lead on gold by 2,000.

A wandering Kunkka in the middle lane was caught with a skewer six minutes later, which allowed Spirit to break a tier-two tower. The moment Skywrath and Enchantress stepped out of the base, they were also caught by Collapse’s Magnus adding two more kills to Spirit’s growing tally.

In the end game, LGD utterly lacked the firepower to fight toe to toe against the Russian squad. After losing three heroes in a clash near the Roshan pit, Spirit went charging to the dire base defended only by Skywrath Mage.

It took one blink, then Skewer from Collapse to eliminate Skywrath Mage and force a GG out of LGD to win the series once and for all at the 36:44 mark of Game 5.

Even though PSG.LGD came up short in the finals, they are nevertheless going home with a hefty $5,202,400 runnerup purse.
