Go serves pandemic-battered Aklanons

The office of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go saw through pandemic-hit people of Kalibo and Banga in Aklan to relieve them of the various difficulties they’re facing.

In a video message on 12 October, Go encouraged working together to minimize its impacts on his beneficiary communities.

The office distributed meals, vitamins, masks, and face shields to a total of 5,000 residents at the Barangay Andagao and Kalibo Pilot Elementary School covered courts in Kalibo and Teodocio’s Park in Banga.

Select residents received new pairs of shoes while others received bicycles for commuting to work. Some received computer tablets which their children can use for studying at home under the blended learning set-up.

As part of a whole-of-government effort to assist individuals in crisis situations, personnel from the Department of Social Welfare and Development also handed out financial assistance in a separate distribution. The Department of Agriculture, in turn, provided beneficiary farmers and fisherfolk with livelihood assistance.

On the other hand, the Department of Trade and Industry and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority conducted assessments of potential beneficiaries for their respective assistance programs.

Moreover, the senator offered medical assistance to any particularly poor and indigent patients. He advised them to seek the services of the Malasakit Centers program so they can conveniently avail of medical assistance from the government for their hospital bills and other health-related concerns.

“So far, we have assisted around three million patients … Wala itong pinipili. Para ito sa mga Pilipino, lalo na sa mga indigent na pasyente,” Go said.
