The Department of Health in Central Visayas (DoH-7) assured the public that it still has 1.8 million doses of anti-coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
Visayas Vaccination Operations Center spokesperson Dr. Mary Jean Loreche said that they have adequate and an overabundance of vaccines and urged local government units (LGU) to convince more people to be vaccinated.
She cited that as of 13 October, there are 1,818,454 doses of Covid-19 vaccines that remained unutilized.
Cebu province has 704,885 doses unutilized, while Bohol has 354,117, followed by Negros Oriental with 315,328.
Cebu City, meantime, still has 258,812 doses while Lapu-Lapu has 64,574, Mandaue with 86,924 and Siquijor with 33,814 doses.
“It is now on the hands of the local government units on how to manage and speed up our vaccination drive. This has to be an LGU-driven activity and it is up to our leaders to have everyone vaccinated,” Loreche said.
Central Visayas received around 4.2 million doses and 1,433,643 individuals are now fully vaccinated in the region.
