Secretary Salvador Panelo announced on Tuesday that cemeteries, columbaries, and memorial parks will be closed again on 1-2 November for the commemoration of All-Saints’ and All-Souls Days.
In his online program “Counterpoint,” the President’s chief legal counsel advised Filipinos to visit the graves of their loved ones before or after the closure dates.
Panelo warned memorial park owners to comply or else their license to operate may be withdrawn.
This as Manila Mayor Francisco Domagoso ordered the closure of all of the city’s cemeteries from 23 October to 3 November to stop people from congregating and spreading Covid-19.
Panelo said that the commemoration of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day have been a part of Filipino tradition, wherein families visit their departed loved ones and offer them flowers and prayers.
