Secretary Salvador Panelo reported on Saturday that a total of 2,221 households had been placed under Covid-19 granular lockdowns in the past two weeks that Alert Level 4 had been implemented in Metro Manila.
In his online program “Counterpoint,” the President’s chief legal counsel said eight commercial establishments and schools, 27 residential buildings, 34 streets, 13 villages and subdivisions, nine blocks and 14 settlements were also placed under granular lockdowns.
Panelo said granular lockdowns are being implemented by the local government units (LGU) in special areas of concern, with the Philippine National Police deploying nearly 700 personnel and 923 force multipliers to enforce the restrictions.
The pilot implementation of the new alert system in Metro Manila has been extended until 15 October by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases to further assess and analyze the strategies being implemented by the LGU.
