The Philippines on Sunday, 26 September, reported 20,755 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total caseload to 2,490,858.

This is the first time the daily case count breached the 20,000 mark since 18 September, when the country logged 23,134 cases.

Based on the latest Department of Health (DoH) case bulletin, the total active cases is now at 161,447, of which 81.1 percent are mild, 13.4 percent asymptomatic, 1.6 percent severe, and 0.7 percent in critical condition.

The recoveries rose to 2,292,006 after 24,391 patients got well.

The death toll is at 37,405 with no new deaths reported.

The DoH explained that the zero deaths report was due to technical issues in COVIDKaya, the digital platform used by the government as the convergent Epidemiological Surveillance system for Covid-19 in all its healthcare and testing facilities.

This is the third day that the number of validated deaths was not included in the case bulletin.
