Celestino falls short in Winter Olympics bid

Filipino-Canadian skater Edrian Celestino came up short in his bid for a ticket to the Beijing Winter Olympics after ending up at 18th spot in the 2021 CS Nebelhorn Trophy at Oberstdorf, Germany early Saturday (Manila time).

Celestino finished his campaign with an aggregate score of 176.10 points.

Only the top seven spots finishers earned outright berths to the 2022 Winter Games.

Celestino tallied 111.78 in the free skate. He scored 64.32 points in the short program on Friday.

Vincent Zhou of the United States, the 2017 World Junior Figure Skating Championships gold medalist, topped the event with 284.23 points.

Adam Siao Him Fa of France came in at second place with 243.78 points while Mark Kondratiuk of Russia snatched bronze with 241.06 points.
