The Quezon City government will prioritize the vaccination of individuals working in at compounds and long-term facilities in the city following Covid-19 outbreaks in a number of convents.
At least 13 facilities like orphanages and home care, apostolate and rehabilitation centers were surveyed recently by the QC Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (QCESU).
According to QCESU chief Dr. Rolando Cruz, there were about 1,027 employees and clients in the surveyed facilities with over a half yet to receive their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
We are working closely with the city’s vaccination team so inoculation can be done at the soonest possible time,” Cruz said.
Meanwhile, Mayor Joy Belmonte confirmed reports that some nuns from the Religious of the Virgin Mary in Cubao have passed away from the virus.
She stressed, however, that they have yet to receive official information from the religious group itself.
