The government gave its go signal to the coronation night of the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 in Bohol next week.
Presidential spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque announced Friday that the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) had allowed the MUP organizers to hold the beauty pageant’s much-awaited coronation night on 30 September.
Roque stressed that the holding of the event would be subject to health and safety protocols against Covid-19, as well as the approval of the host province, which was put under general community quarantine with heightened restrictions.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the MUP organization expressed its gratitude to the national pandemic task force and the local government of Bohol to stage the pageant’s finals.
“We started the competition in Clark, Pampanga, now we’re flying to Bohol for the coronation! The Miss Universe Philippines organization is very happy to announce that the province of Bohol will be our host for the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 pageant,” it said.
The coronation night was previously scheduled on 25 September, but it was postponed as organizers waited for the IATF’s approval.
Twenty-eight contestants have been eyeing for the crown.
The winner of this year’s pageant would represent the Philippines in the 70th Miss Universe hosted by Israel.
