BTS scores 3 victories at MTV Video Music Awards

Korean superstar group BTS scored three major wins at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) in New York City on 12 September.

The seven-member group won for Group of the Year, Song of Summer (“Butter”) and Best K-Pop Award.

It won the Group of the Year award with 25 million fan votes. It received seven nominations including Song of the Year (“Dynamite”) and Best Pop Song (“Butter”).

Unable to attend and perform at the awards show, BTS members recorded a video message to thank the VMA, and especially the group’s ARMY fandom, to whom they addressed the message: “We feel your love every minute and second.”

Hosted by Doja Cat, the 2021 VMA featured performances from Justin Bieber and the Kid LAROI, Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow, Alicia Keysand Swae Lee, Shawn Mendes and Tainy, Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker, among others.
