The Malabon City government said Sunday that its “Kalinga sa Kalusugan” program has provided 90,000 beneficiaries nutrition packages, including rice, vegetables and eggs.
Said goods were sourced from farmers whose livelihood were also affected by the pandemic amid the prevailing modified enhanced community quarantine.
With Covid-19 mutating, Malabon Councilor Lorenzo “Enzo” Oreta said people having nutritious food is essential.
Latest government data showed Malabon has 18,820 total confirmed Covid-19 cases, with 17,236 recoveries and 580 deaths.
Buying from the farmers at competitive pricing and providing their produce to residents as aid was described by Malabon officials as hitting two birds with one stone as both sectors benefit.
