Soldiers captured four New People’s Army (NPA) rebels, including two minors, in clashes in Bukidnon on 9 to 10 September following an earlier encounter the day before.
Six firearms were seized from the group, Brig. Gen. Ferdinand Barandon said of the encounter in Talakag and Valencia City that followed the 8 September clash at Barangay Mabuhay in San Fernando, also in Bukidnon.
Barandon, the 403rd Brigade commander, said soldiers of the 88th Infantry Battalion headed by Lt. Col. James Christian Vingno engaged about 10 NPA rebels led by one “alias DR” of Platoon Bagsik.
A 30-minute firefight resulted in the capture of the four NPA rebels, and seizure of six firearms — 3 M16 rifles and three AR15 rifles.
Maj. Gen. Romeo S Brawner Jr., commander of the 4ID, expressed alarm over the involvement of two more minors in the 10 September armed encounter.
In the 8 September battle, three minors were among the 10 NPA rebels captured.
