Jules Samonte will no longer return for Ateneo de Manila University in the women’s volleyball competition of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP).
In a social media post, Samonte thanked the Ateneo community for supporting her in her four-year stint in the UAAP.
“Seeing all the posts about the UAAP has got me feeling nostalgic. Words cannot even describe how thankful and blessed I am to have been able to play to play the game I love for the blue and white,” Samonte said.
“I am immensely grateful to The Ateneo for giving me the opportunity to live out my dream and of course thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam. On to the next”
In her four years with the Lady Eagles, Samonte won the UAAP title in two finals appearances aside from being hailed as Rookie of the Year in 2017.
She was in her fourth playing year when the league called off its Season 83 following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic last year.
The league, however, is planning to unfurl its Season 84 pending the resumption of face-to-face classes.
