BAGUIO CITY — The Kalinga Provincial Epidemiologic and Surveillance Office (PESO) revealed that it has recorded a total of 330 coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections in the province in the first week of September alone.

It added that the recorded cases have surpassed half of the total cases recorded over the previous month.

The PESO said that the municipalities of Balbalan and Pasil joined Pinukpuk in the province of Kalinga on the critical Epidemic Risk Level in terms of rising Covid-19 incidence.

The Provincial Health Office, on the other hand, previously tallied a total of 649 confirmed cases for the whole month of August which was described by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ed Tandingan as a ‘fast increase of new cases for the province.’

With the rising number of infections and the threat of the recently discovered first case of Delta variant in the province, data projection is foreseen to be higher for the rest of September without the proper Covid-19 interventions to address these local transmissions.
