Phl logs 22,820 new Covid-19 cases; highest single-day tally

The Philippines on Thursday set a new record as the Department of Health (DoH) confirmed 22,820 new Covid-19 cases — the highest single-day tally.
The newly-confirmed cases surpassed the country’s previous highest record at 22,415, which was logged on Monday.
Based on the Department of Health (DoH) case bulletin, this is the second day in the week that confirmed cases are over the 20,000 mark.
The country’s total caseload is now at 2,161,892, of which 166,672 are tagged as active cases.
Of the active cases, 87 percent are mild, 8.3 percent are asymptomatic, 1.4 percent are severe, and 0.7 percent are in critical condition.
The country’s Covid-19 death toll is now at 34,733 after 61 new fatalities were recorded.
Meanwhile, the recoveries rose to 1,960,487 after 12,337 more patients recovered from the respiratory disease.
Out of the 74,706 individuals who were screened for Covid-19 on 7 September, 29.4 percent turned out positive — the country’s highest positivity rate since testing became available in the country.
