Car chase yields arrest of Baguio most wanted

BAGUIO CITY—A high-profile drug personality was wounded in an armed encounter and car chase with the personnel of the Kalinga Police in the afternoon of 7 September at Barangay Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga.

The suspect, Victor Guimba, had a standing warrant of arrest.

According to the police, they received an information about a gray SUV from Metro Manila arriving at Tabuk City to fetch Guimba. The authorities confirmed the information when they intercepted the vehicle at Sitio Bakras, Bulnao, Tabuk City, and found Guimba aboard.

The police said Guimba pointed a gun at their personnel when they approached the vehicle, before speeding away.

A gunfight ensued, the police claiming the suspect initiating it. The getaway car strayed into the rice field, where it was stuck after one of its rear tires got shot.

Guimba was then cornered and was rushed to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital after he was discovered to have been hit. Arrested with him was an 18-year old who was not identified by the police.

Seized from the suspects were 10 bricks of dried marijuana worth P1,200,000, a Cal. 9mm Smith and Wesson with four live ammunitions; two hand grenades; P13,750 cash; cellphone and a bag.

In related news, a man was arrested for selling suspected marijuana oil to an undercover police at Bokawkan road, Baguio City, in the afternoon of 7 September 2021.

He was identified as Francis Dalimot, 22, a resident of Baguio City. Seized were 11 small bottles containing suspected marijuana oil with an estimated total value of P38,000.

According to the police, he was not actually the target of the buy-bust operation, but a female drug personality named Joyce Yag-o.

Dalimot will be facing charges of violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
