Four members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) belonging to the Karialan faction have surrendered to the military in Maguindanao, Maj. Gen. Generoso Ponio said yesterday.

Ponio, the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Western Mindanao Command acting commander, said the four gave up to members of the 6th Mechanized Battalion in Maguindanao midweek.

They were identified as alias Dauto, 20, a resident of Barangay Tapikan, Shariff Aguak; alias Nas, 44, from Sitio Damalibi; alias George, also from Damalabi; and alias Rasul, 42, a resident of Mudseng, Midsayan in North Cotabato.

The surrenderers handed over two 7.62mm sniper rifles, and a piece each of 5.56mm Ultimax sub-machine gun and cal. 50 Barrett.

Dauto and company were undergoing custodial debriefing and were coordinated with the Agila Haven for their livelihood assistance.

Ponio lauded the troops of Joint Task Force-Central for their efforts to end terrorism and dismantle the criminal groups in their areas of operation.

“Our substantial gains bespeak of our successful campaigns and interagency collaboration and cooperation. Let us sustain this so that our ultimate will soon be achieved,” he emphasized.

Last month, a total of 59 BIFF-Karialan faction members surrendered in Maguindanao.
