DOH reports 516 more Covid Delta cases

The Department of Health (DoH) on 29 August reported 516 new cases of Covid-19’s highly transmissible Delta variant, bringing its total count to 1,789.
Based on the latest whole genome sequencing results of the new cases, 473 are local transmissions, 31 are from Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROF), and 12 need further verification.
Majority or 114 of the local transmissions had addresses in the National Capital Region, 24 in Ilocos, 32 in Cagayan Valley, 64 in Central Luzon, 79 in CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) and 20 in MIMAROPA (Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan).
There are also 16 cases in Bicol, 13 in Western Visayas, 23 in Central Visayas, 12 in Zamboanga, 48 in Northern Mindanao, 22 in Davao Region, and six in Cordillera.
The DoH said that six cases are still active, five have died, while 505 have recovered, while all other details are being validated by regional and local health offices.
